Yayla Tribal Rugs
Supporting Machik's mission and work since 2000
For over thirty years, Yayla has been a special community and place where people gather to work, share experiences and meals, and learn from one another. All are welcome at Yayla.
Yayla has generously and steadfastly supported Machik's mission and programs from the earliest stage. Chris Walter, Yayla's visionary founder and intrepid social entrepreneur, visited the Chungba school several times and has always maintained a deeply understanding relationship with the work. He and his dedicated team have long committed themselves to selling these high quality rugs to support not only Machik's work for Tibet, but also to support many other communities.
Yayla produces high quality carpets and sells 95% of what they produce themselves in India, Afghanistan, and Nepal. The Yayla team are Tibetan, Turkmen, Kurdish, Nepali, Indian, Central American, and American. The mission has always been to create unique and beautiful rugs using all the traditional materials known to rug-makers for countless generations. Yayla only uses hand-carded and hand-spun wool, silk, and vegetable dyes.
