On Saturday, March 16, a special Machik Kora was held to raise awareness of gender-based violence in Tibetan communities. Led by longtime Tibetan voices of conscience, survivors and defenders of victims against sexual assault and gender-based violence, this Machik Kora served as a global town hall for Tibetan community members to share their experiences and perspectives on this urgent issue. Tibetan participants from India were especially welcomed as the Kora focused on the recent tragic sexual assault of a minor in a Tibetan settlement. Participants were invited to joined from Canada, USA, India, and Europe. By bringing together voices from across the globe, the Kora provided a platform for collective reflection and action towards creating safer and more supportive environments for all.
