Machik Community Screenings

Machik Community Screening, 2019 in Cambridge, MA. Yayla Tribal Rugs hosted a screening of "Tharlo" by Pema Tseden.
Machik Community Screenings (MCS) are community partnered opportunities to screen and discuss the innovative and vital work of Tibetan filmmakers from inside Tibet. Machik works with volunteer hosts from around the world to reach new audiences and grow global support for Tibet. Through the screenings, we offer more in-depth facilitated discussions and readings about the predicament of contemporary Tibet. Screenings are tailored to suit a diversity of local audiences - from community groups to campuses. MCS fosters a growing global community to engage in focused conversation and learn more together about Tibet. When possible, we invite Tibetan filmmakers from Tibet to speak in person at the screenings, which is a rare opportunity for audiences to engage directly with cultural producers from inside Tibet. MCS has already screened in the following places: Singapore, New Delhi, Prague, Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C, Boston, Vancouver, Victoria, Portland, Eugene, Berkeley, Minneapolis, Madison, University of Connecticut, and more.
