2025 Machik Mammogram Screenings
In honor of International Women’s Month, Machik is expanding efforts to support women’s health and expanding access to women's health.
Now in its third year, our Mammogram Screening Project provides free breast cancer screenings for Tibetan and Indian women in rural settlements in Karnataka, South India. Since 2023, we have screened 200 women, including one early-stage tumor detection that led to successful treatment with the help of local Tibetan healthcare workers from Mundgod.

Special gratitude to the dedicated teams at the Orange Diagnostic Lab, the Tibetan-led clinic in Bylakuppe, the Hunsur Tibetan healthcare workers, Dr. Dhondup Tashi (2023 Dr. Bettegowda Awardee) and Dr. Tenzin Passang of Mundgod, and the Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation, whose fully equipped mammogram bus serves rural women. Their unwavering commitment and their collective dedication continues to make a profound impact on women's healthcare in the region.
In 2023 and 2024, with the help of our local partners, Machik Mammogram screenings reached a total of 200 women across three Tibetan settlements in Karnataka, South India. In 2025, we are adding Kollegal Tibetan Settlement.
