Machik Founders Recognized By Canada's Governor GeneralOn December 7, 2023, Machik founders Pencho (Phuntsok) Rabgey, Tsering Dolker Rabgey, Dr. Losang Rabgey and Dr. Tashi Rabgey were recognized by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon for their service leadership and empowerment of Tibetan communities in Tibet and North America.
The Meritorious Service Cross (MSC) is one of the highest distinctions a Canadian civilian can receive. The award acknowledges deeds over an extended period of time that are innovative, set exemplary standards for others or significantly enhance the quality of life within a community. Governor General Mary Simon delivered the commendation in her native Inuktitut as well as English and French. As an Inuk, she is the first Indigenous person to hold Canada’s highest office. Recipients undergo a meticulous national selection process that is merit-based. Nominees are reviewed by an independent advisory committee before final approval by the Governor General. Machik is truly grateful to the growing global community that has made this work possible. |
