We are pleased to have hosted the 5th virtual Machik Commencement Celebration (MCC) honoring Tibetan graduates and their educational milestones! On Saturday, May 18, we convened a diverse group of participants from Tibet, USA, Canada, India, Australia, and Singapore.
For over 25 years, Machik has been steadfast in our commitment to Tibetan education as a key foundation for a stronger future for Tibet. The graduates we honored have earned diplomas, degrees, or certificates in a variety of fields, from high schools to universities and vocational trainings. The MCC is welcoming and inclusive space to recognize their hard work and accomplishments.
We heard from many graduates who told us about their inspirational pathways, the vital insights they have gained, and the journeys they hope to take ahead. Renowned physician, Dr Dhondup Tashi, the 2023 Bettegowda Awardee was the keynote speaker and was followed with thoughtful reflections from community change-makers Sang Mota and Kunsang Tsephel. Many proud family, friends and supporters also joined in celebration and shared their views on the meaning of education for Tibet.
