How would you describe yourself in a sentence?
I seek happiness and peace, just like everyone else.
Why did you join the White Crane Circle?
It’s an opportunity to give back to the Tibetan community and to pay it forward. I am where I am because of all the sacrifices Tibetans who came before me have made.
Anything else you would like to share with the rest of the Machik community?

How would you describe yourself in 1 sentence?
A Tibetan.
What does Machik mean to you?
Machik builds the bridges for Tibetan communities inside Tibet. Under them, we can place the challenges and barriers that hold communities back. Over them, we can link communities and build new opportunities.
Which Machik program do you feel most strongly about and why?
I feel most strongly about the Tibetan Governance and Practice work because it addresses the overarching problem that constrains Tibetan communities: the lack of Tibetan representation int he decisions that affect their communities.
Anything else you would like to share with the rest of the Machik community?
I know from firsthand experience how impactful Machik’s work is for Tibetan communities in Tibet. I hope you will continue to support Machik’s much needed programs and projects and their dedicated and hardworking time in the years to come.

How would you describe yourself in a sentence?
I am an extraordinarily fortunate educator and outdoor enthusiast who is grateful for the exceptional opportunities that have come my way, and with friends I founded the Eastern Sierra Friends of Machik upon my return from Chungba in 2005.
What does Machik mean to you?
Machik epitomizes meaningful and long-term contribution on the ground in Tibet that unlocks opportunities for people. Machik means rock-solid commitment, ethics, optimism, determination, respect, brilliance, and compassion.
Anything else you would like to share with the rest of the Machik community?
I would like to share with the Machik community my knowledge that we are part of something singular. I had many moments in Chungba, and I’ve had so many since when I’ve seen clearly what can happened when unshakeable commitment finds expression, in spite of truly complex challenges. Never give up.
