Machik Film Screenings (MFS) are partnered opportunities to screen and discuss the innovative and vital work of Tibetan filmmakers from inside Tibet. Machik works with volunteer hosts globally to reach new audiences and grow wider support for Tibet. We offer in-depth facilitated discussions about the uncertainty of contemporary Tibet. Screenings are tailored to suit a range of local audiences. When possible, we invite Tibetan filmmakers from Tibet to speak at the screenings, which is an important opportunity for audiences to engage directly with cultural producers from Tibet. MFS has already screened in the following places: Singapore, New Delhi, Prague, Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C, Boston, Vancouver, Victoria, Portland, Eugene, Berkeley, St Paul/Minneapolis, Madison WI, Oberlin College, University of Connecticut, and more.
2026 Machik Film Screenings

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Machik hosted a screening of the award-winning Tibetan film Tharlo at Century Cinemas in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The film, written and directed by the acclaimed Tibetan filmmaker Pema Tseden, honored his lasting contributions to Tibetan cinema following his passing in 2023.
