Growing Love in Tibet: White Crane Circle
Over 20 years ago, we began a journey that changed our lives.
We responded to the call of parents – Tibetan subsistence farmers and pastoralists who had never been to school themselves but who believed education could change the future of their mountain communities.
What began as a project to build one school became a life-long commitment to Tibetan empowerment and the strengthening of Tibetans everywhere.
Our work today continues to grow – from rural schools to girls and women's learning, to the advancement of policy advocacy on Tibetan language protection, conservation and social entrepreneurship to public education about Tibet.
But at heart, our work is simple.
Our most fundamental task is to listen deeply and to be present – to bear witness to the everyday struggles of Tibetans, especially in Tibet, as they seek new ways to build their communities under trying conditions and against all odds.
Machik’s true mission, then, is to grow love in Tibet.
And we could not do it without your support and trust. On behalf of everyone on the Machik team, thank you for being on this journey with us.
Katro logya (one-hundred years of thanks).
