Every year, we gather to celebrate the graduation of Tibetans inside Tibet and in Tibetan immigrant communities around the world. We recognize the dreams pursued, the sacrifices made, and the courage it takes to cross a finish line in uncertain times.
This year, we come together again to honor you, the Tibetan Class of 2026, and the light you carry forward.
Everyone is warmly welcome — family, friends, neighbours, and community members who want to share in the joy of this moment and bear witness to what these graduates have achieved.

WHY THE ANNUAL COMMENCEMENT MATTERS
From the very beginning, education has been at the heart of Machik's mission and values. The Annual Commencement is a living expression of that — a space we've built together where Tibetans, both at home and across the diaspora, can come to celebrate knowledge, connect with one another, and be reminded that their education is deeply tied to the future of Tibet.
As our co-founder Dr. Tashi Rabgey puts it:
"Every year, young Tibetans — both inside Tibet and in diaspora — graduate into uncertainty. Many are the first in their families to attend college. Some are the first in their families to ever attend any kind of school. We remember the uncertainty that comes when you are the first to venture into uncharted waters. So we offer this annual space for young graduating Tibetans to connect and hear from inspiring peers, mentors and elders who have forged new pathways while navigating difficult circumstances."
At the Machik Annual Commencement, graduates share their lessons, their inspirations, and their hopes. Keynote speakers reflect on the transformative power of education. And together, we celebrate the courage, perseverance, and spirit that makes this community so extraordinary.
