We are pleased to share with you the impact of our recent Machik Mammogram Screenings, held in the Tibetan settlements of Karnataka in South India. The aim of this second annual initiative has been to provide access to free breast cancer screenings to Tibetan and Indian women in rural areas. For most of the participants, this was their first chance for a mammogram screening.
Global Collaboration
Heartfelt thanks to our esteemed local partners, Tsering Youdon and Sonam Tsering of Orange Diagnostic Laboratory, Hunsur Tibetan Healthcare workers Lhawang and Tashi and the remarkable team lead by Pratima Shankar and her team from Poorna Sudha Cancer Foundation, who played a pivotal role in making this program a success. Working together, we were able to offer free breast cancer screenings to 79 all rural women from two locations.
Growing Impact: Bylakuppe to Hunsur
Building on the achievements of 2023, where both Tibetan and Indian women in Bylakuppe received free mammograms for the first time, we extended our program to the Hunsur Tibetan settlement this year. This expansion reflects our commitment to reaching more women and promoting early detection. This year screened over 40 women in Bylakuppe and around 40 women in Hunsur.
